243 posts · Joined 2014. #1 · Apr 12, 2015. I know it's a "fill for life" gearbox, but I've changed the oil anyway. Just a quick question: At first, I undid the "wrong" drain plug. I undid what I assumed would be the drain plug but no oil came out and it was a long bolt. It was directly at the sump of the gearbox, under where the fill plug is.
Not only did the used oil come out much easier - it had the consistency of water but there were notable bits of small grit in the oil pan. I would not use this routinely but as the car has done 112k miles, and theaforementioned black oil following a service; I wanted to ensure the engine was clean.
Having read in the ownerâs handbook, that Kia recommends âTotal Quartzâ oils, I paid a trip over to Totalâs UK website. After inputting my car reg number, it returned the fact that the following âLow Sapsâ oil is the recommended one for my car: Total Quartz INEO MDC 5W-30.
