With the shorter belt and 2 of the pulleys gone, and less stress on the belt (drives the alternator/ does not need to drive the AC) The other thing is the TDCIs (2L/ 2.2L) have about a 700 rpm tickover, the engine tends to rattle and shake at tickover (often the rattling AUX pully goes away when you raise the revs) - the TDDI has a 900 rpm
872 posts · Joined 2008. #8 · Feb 5, 2009. If its a Diesel and the cambelt has broken and you can turn the engine over on the key you have a damaged engine, Diesel engines do not like broken cambelts at all as they are such high compression engines as they need that to ignite the fuel.
Hi all, I'm having big problems with my 04 tdci Mondeo. Since changing the aux belt the engine just won't start. When the aux belt snapped the car continued to run ie turn of, stop and could restart so the belt didn't affect the valve timing. The only thing I can maybe put it down to is when

Timing belt & Water pump. My April 2018 Ford Kuga 2.0 diesel with 24900 miles on the clock is almost 5 years old. The good book says to change the timing belt and water pump after 70,000 miles or 5 years and this is quite an expensive operation.
