There is very little difference. The F11 is a bit heavier and a bit nosier inside as the trunk isn't a sealed compartment as with the F10. They are on the same chassis - the F11 is just an F10 with a different back.

M550i is essentially a standard 5 series with a 4.4L V8 (turbocharged) and normal X-Drive (which means essentially rear drive bias, but power can be sent to the front wheels) compared to the M5, the x-drive can't be turned off. In an M5, the front axle can be disengaged, making the M5 rear wheel drive, allowing pure drifting to occur.
Bottom line is that the F30 is a slightly smaller and younger brother to the F10 in almost every way. I configured the E60 F10 and F30 almost the same with ZPP and ZSP, CWP, PDC. Had to get the suspension option for the F30 to match the same as what is std in the F10 with ZPP, otherwise very similar setups. All 4 of my BMWs had/have manual trans.

The G30 is 36 mm (1.4 in) longer, 6 mm (0.2 in) wider and 2 mm (0.07 in) taller than the F10, with its wheelbase having grown by 7 mm (0.3 in). It may not sound like much, but if you add the sharper, more modern lines, you get a sedan that seems from a first glance to have more road presence than the car its replacing.
